Why Tithe
Living a life of faith calls for one to practice a lifestyle of Kingdom principles. Genesis 14 traces the tithe, which is a tenth of all income, to Abraham in which he gave a tenth of all spoils from battle to Melchizedek, king of Salem in which he pronounced a blessing to prosper on Abraham. In Malachi 3 God spoke “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it”.
The subject of giving tithe and offerings has been a greatly discussed and controversial topic in which many now say it is of no relevance since there is no direct or explicit instructions given in the New Testament scriptures and we are no longer living under the dispensation of law. However, Jesus speaks “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets” (Matthew 5:17).
When we tithe and give an offering we honor God and we create a covenant connection to God which then obligates Him to prosper, protect and bless the finances we have. Our pastor believes in meeting people where they are in their faith walk with God while teaching “According to your faith so be it unto you” Mathew 9:29.
